This weekend the Lady Bulldog's and Bulldog's competed in the Annual McNeil XC Invitational which stands as a State Preview, as well. Last year the meet was rained out and left thousands in desperate need of meet, not this year! There were approximately 7000 runners and over 500 teams in attendance.

In the Girl's 5A Division, there were 236 runners and 28 teams. Sophomore Emma Ellis led the way for the Lady Bulldogs through the 5k course finishing 4th overall with a time of 19:19.40 setting a season best. Close behind finishing 8th, was Senior Michelle Folk in a time of 19:28.22 setting her career best time. Following close was Senior Katelynn Ashmore placing 11th in a season best 19:37.21, Sophomore Joanna Durdin was 12th with her season best of 19:47.14, Junior Sara Eddings 16th with her career best 20:02.45 which rounded out our Top 5 with a winning point total of 48 beating 2nd place Friendswood by 31 points. In addition to the top 5, we had Senior Audrey Mullen at 50th in a time of 21:24.40, Senior Isabel Bozarth at 79th with season best 22:09.14 and Senior Adriana Ortega at 108th with her season best time of 22:46.45.

340 runners and 41 teams in total competed in the Boy's 5A Division. The Bulldogs were led by Sophomore Dylan Sequeira who completed the 5k course in a career best 16:05.79 and finished 2nd overall. Next to cross the finish line was Senior John Ward with 19th and season best 16:50.60, followed by Senior Houston Bailey at 22nd in a career best 16:54.97, Sophomore Keaton Strait at 23rd with a career best 16:57.11 and rounding out Top 5 with Josh Slocum who finished 70th in a career best 17:36.91. Top 5 finished with a point total of 136 taking 1st from 2nd place finisher Friendswood by 17 points. Those weren't the only Dogs to finish, Junior Roberto Flores finished 103rd with his career best 17:55.20, Sophomore Matthew Connally at 220th with his career best 19:13.63 and Junior Josh Martin who finished 273rd in a career best of 20:04.19.

Great job to both team! It was Homecoming Weekend, they showed up, they competed, and they WON BIG! Next is one last tune-up meet at the Lake Houston Invitational on Thursday. Then District on Thursday, October 11th in Bryan.
